ScrapTherapy™ is a two-part program which gives you a system to organize your scraps and then use them! What could be better than that?
The Cutting Workshop is Part One of the two-part series. Bring a container to class filled with your scraps, no matter how messy or tangled they may be. We will get those scraps pressed, cut into three different sizes and all organized into see-through storage bins. You will receive one bin as part of the price of the $12 class. The class is a prerequisite to any of the ScrapTherapy™ quilted project classes.
Quilt Project classes use the newly-cut and organized fabric pieces in a variety of fresh patterns and projects. Watch your scrap stash shrink while converting scrap fabrics into usable quilts, table runners, bags and more.

Fabric Selection Clinic - Get ready for loads of learning and discovery! If you find the most difficult part of quilting to be choosing your fabrics, then this class is for you! Let me show you why fabric selection is my favorite part of the process and help you move from fabric phobic to fantastic fabric selector. We'll start with the color wheel and basic color combinations, move on to more dramatic combinations, then add fabric texture, print scale, and style. We'll pull fabrics from our scrap piles and glue them to cardboard quilt blocks, putting together both good and bad combinations for discussion. You'll discover abilities you didn't know you had - and your quilts will demonstrate the difference!

Sew You Want to Quilt: Begin with the Basics - This class is for those who have never quilted and those who've dabbled here and there (or more) but want to fill in gaps in skills and knowledge. We'll start with the basics of fabric and pattern selection, discuss tools and equipment, rotary cutting both with rulers and templates, then move on to basic piecing techniques for making a variety of blocks: rail fence, log cabin, 9-patch, flying geese, card trick and a few variations. Each of us is different in sewing style, so what works for each of us varies. We'll learn several methods for constructing each block, then you'll make your own decisions about which works best for you.
We'll explore border options,: straights, mitered, pieced, cornerstones.. and more. Once your quilt top is complete, we'll talk about linings, battings, and quilting techniques, then put the pieces together with either machine or hand quilting. By the time we finish, your quilt will be bound, labeled and ready to throw over your lap or hang on your wall, and you'll be ready to move on to your next project - with confidence!

Well, there might be another way - partial seam piecing. This three-session class will introduce you to the technique with the construction of four traditional blocks, and one original block which is then expanded upon to create a quilt setting with a contemporary feel. By the end of this class, you may find yourself looking at block patterns a little differently. The class will meet once a month, for three months. Two traditional blocks will be taught in each of the first two classes; the last class will feature the original block and the quilt setting. You'll receive a supply list when you pay for class.
